I am Jane Scott Vara and I am a criminal defense lawyer. In my Houston law office, I offer over 15 years of criminal law experience to people throughout the Houston area. Before opening my criminal defense practice, I was a prosecutor for almost 10 years in both Walker County and Harris County. I handled criminal prosecutions in Walker County for over 2 years and in Harris County for over 7 years. I have prepared countless criminal prosecutions and know how the State prepares criminal cases. My Practice
My practice is solely devoted to defending adults and juveniles accused of committing a criminal offense. I handle all types of criminal cases in both State and Federal Court including:
- Drugs. I defend people charged with drug possession, trafficking, manufacturing or conspiracy in cases involving all types of controlled substances, such as marijuana, cocaine, methamphetamines, heroin and prescription drugs.
- DWI. I defend people charged with drinking and driving, whether it's your first offense or you have been charged before. I will use my knowledge and experience to evaluate your case beginning with a determination of whether or not the State had probable cause for stopping you and to ensure that all of your Constitutional rights are protected.
- Assault. I represent individuals charged with offenses including assault by threat, assault of a family member, and aggravated assault.
- Sexual Assault. I handle the defense of a wide range of sex crimes, including rape, sexual assault, aggravated sexual assault, sexual assault of a child, indecency with a child, child pornography, and Internet solicitation of a minor.
